I brought the D5 out to start texturing it and felt like doing more model work on it :D I know I am taking some artistic license here but it is getting some greebies here and there. At a distance it still looks TOS but with a hint of 'CGI' updating.
Here are some pics (http://3d.concept40.com/images/conyards/d5.html)

Glad to see it again! I have no problems with greebles as long as the basic hull shapes aren't changed too much.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this ship in action against the Federation.

Cool! Oh, here's a quiz. See if you can find the error in the following sentence...
"Thought this was done a long time ago and started to look at texturing it. Decided to ass some detail first. My thought is it will simplify the texturing."

"aSS detail"? What's wrong with that? It's a very common engineering term. :)

This is why I am not a copyrighter or is it copy writer or is it content editor?
BTW - if anyone was really interested - what I do for a living 12 hours a day 5-6 days a week is manage these:
Site 1 (http://www.quantum.com)
Site 2 (http://www.superdlttape.com)
If I made an oops like that - well there'd be hell to pay.
O-Yeah - fixed and thanks :D

Who's that peppy looking guy standing in front of the racks at the Quantum site? Looks a bit too happy. He's planning something.

Stock Art - No idea, we are killing this theme in 2-3 months. We have a series of lead concepts designed to appeal to the various IT professionals that frequent our site.

Textures starting to show up on the D5. Wings and partial main hull at the moment. I'm trying to decide on a green or blue specular tint to the metal. TOS Klingons were just a different gray, right? Later they are all green.
Your comments and thoughts strongly desired :D

Thomas,
Could you please get back to me about the renders we discussed. I sent the pictures and never heard back. If your not interested, please just let me know. Thank you.

Frankly, I don't see much difference between the green and the blue.

Kailer, I think you are confusing me with Thomas7G - He did the Bonaventure. Other than the few posts here, on Thomas7G's work, I've never heard from you.
Masao, there is a difference but it is slight. Which do you think is right? You are the expert (really,... truely... :D).
I have been working on finishing the textures and I think by the weekend I'll be done. I think it will have to run into a Lancaster class cruiser (poor thing).

Oops! So sorry, my mistake!

The original D7 model was just painted grey, without a tint, or may have been painted the same color as Enterprise (greenish grey). I don't know. When I made the AMT model when I was a kid I painted it Testors glossy sky blue, because that's what I thought I saw on screen (an on the box art, IIRC), but one of my friends painted his glossy tree frog green (like an AMC Nova or something). All modern Klingon ships are greenish, so maybe that's the way to go. But they only started going green with the STIII BoP. When I did my schematics, I sat on the fence and made them flat neutral grey. So, in my expert (ha!) opinion, it's up to you!

My first instinct is to keep it gray, but perhaps you can add the slightest green tinge. Not something noticeable, but perhaps somewhat apparent when light hits the ship just the right way...

Well it just needs some Klingon fleet emblems here and there and it's done. I am going back to work on the shuttle and then the shuttle rigging.

So, did you finally go with the green or the blue? Can we see a render in the classic pose, looking up from the front quarter?

Well, I don't know if this is right but it is close. I did this last night, playing with lighting and nebulas. The tint is blue (when you get a specular highlight angle)

Yeah! That top one is pretty close. The classic view places the head above the main body:

Nice work. What type of emblems are you going to affix and where are you going to put them?

Masao - Thanks!
Skyhawk - I'll use the layout as seen on Masao's original drawings. I created the claw-horn-dagger(?) emblem some time ago in MAX. I just need to mask it in. I have not done it yet because I have nt reloaded the Klingon font I have.
