A new variant of the Oberth class ship from ST3. I know the engines aren't perfect but they'll do for now they turned out better than I thought they would. I'm not trying to do something that's exact.
Introducing the U.S.S. Greer.
The design is from the Starfleet Prototype book

Not bad at all since you prefaced it with saying it is not an exact copy of the Oberth. What original touches are you planning on adding?

Personally I enjoy looking at variants more than exact copies. Looking sweet so far. Can't wait to see more.

Looking good so far, though I can't see any major differences between the Oberth and your ship.

More! :D

So you're trying to create a Federation Academy Transport, or something, from an Oberth-Class vessel?

How about a Hospital Frigate to compete with Warthog's Medical Frigate from the "Star Trek: Invasion" Playstation game? With aft-swept medical isolation/quarentine/escape-pod modules that can be jettisoned & capable of planet-fall in an emergency, otherwise directly docked against the currently smooth ventral surface.

Or how about a Starfleet Marine fighter/runabout carrier, with a barracks/through-deck flight-bay module directly attached/docked against the Oberth's ventral surface?

Or how about a mobile repair vessel with a permanent McKinley-style articulated drydock frame somhow dragged behind it & workbee/worksled storage-bays attached underneath?

What are you nuts.:duck:
This ship is a Corsair.

Why?
November 18th, 2002, 02:57 PM
Great minds think alike...

Here is mine for a game called Klingon Academy...

I also made the Clarke Class and Jester Class as I have the same Starfleet Prototype Book. There are some great looking ships inside.

Regards, Why?

That's the one all right. I'll also be doing the Clark, the Asmodeus, the Fisher, the Angueira, and the Todega. I wont do the Jester because it's the same as the Asmodeus.

UPDATE....
I hade to rebuild the impulse engine because for some reason it collapsed in on itself. Most of the modelling is done.

I've started to work on textures.

That's superb, although I think you have leeway to inroduce _some_ artistic license here - what about improving the Nacelles (they're a spot-on replica as they are) by putting some black horizontal Bussard Intakes at the front of them? The original Oberth looked daft (as did the Excelsior) without them...

Oh, and are you going to texture the vent/sensor indentations along the forward edge of the Nacelle Pylons/Underhull?

Looking great so far anyways :)

No I'm sticking to the design I'm useing. And the black Bussard intakes would look very bad. I like the nacelles without them.

I'll probably model them I don't know yet.

UPDATE...
Modelling is done and I'm now working on the textures. I know there's some segmenting going on in some places but that's easy to fix.

UPDATE...
It's been awhile since I've worked on this but I've done some texture work. I will probably redo it since it's not centered correct, and I called it the Grissom instead of the Creer as it should be.:shake:

I've been doing some more work on this ship and should have some pics up in a few seconds:nuts:

And here they are.
UPDATE....
I've done some textures for the engines. And I'm very happy with the way they turned out. I also redid the textures for the saucer section and like them much better now.

Old threads don't die, they just get crusty. Was this ever finished? Looks like it still needs textures.

XFozzboute
December 18th, 2003, 06:56 PM
Yes it's finished. It has all the textures it needs. I wanted to keep it as simple as I could.
