This is a question for you ThomasP.

I was wondering how you make the gridlines for ships like the Yorktown?

If you remember for the version of yorktown i made a while back i interprited the lines as raised tubes tubes...

but yours look like recessed grooves.
Are you using a texture or are you modeling them into the hull?

i'd like to know.

BTW - Love your turrets and cannon, freek'n scary guns!

The 'grid' lines are done with bump maps and masks in a blended material applied to the ship. I envisioned the sections layered in additional panels to harden the ship.

I just went into max and drew the panel I wanted and then exported it to be used in PSP. There I copied it the required number of times to make all the panels. Once this was done I could create negative versions to act as a mask.

Only i wanted to have it on top.
and have it be operated sort of like the ball turrent guns on the B-17
And then I added the side cannons from the Pioneer class since they were really cool too :D

Are the round black things on the front of the Yorktown torpedo tubes?

Yes, they are. The newest model has the tube and the interior has the missile rack.
