Hello!

I just got the teaser for my 3D animation project "Snow Fall" released. I am looking for comments and critique about it, so that I can improve the upcoming trailer and eventually the final animated short movie.

Here are some screenshots from the teaser, so you can decide whether to download the animation itself.

The high quality DivX AVI (5.6MB) is here:

You can also download a low-quality DivX AVI version or an MPG version from the Download page of the project web pages at:

Thank you for your interest!

I love it!

However, I was forced to watch the MPG version, as both AVI's seem to be corrupted, at least for me.

That last shot is brilliant, by the way... :D

Thanks!

The AVI files seem to need the DivX 5.05 codec, older versions do not seem to be quite compatible (even though they are supposed to be, weird). You can download the codec from http://www.divx.com/divx/

Thanks for the tip - I dl'ed the latest codec, and the high-res version blew me away!

Note perfect work, man. I loved it... :D

Very nice! I especially love the shot of the 'fireball' falling through the sky.

Well, it looks like I still have a long, long way to go. I am very impressed.

Thanks guys!

I've got similar comments about the fireball in another forum, with a wish that the shot would have been longer...

I'll keep that in mind when editing the trailer!

Thanks again!

I like it. Can i just make one little suggestion? I think the ship is rotating a little too fast (even though it seems to be pulled in to a nearby planet). At that speed, wouldn't the gravity being created inside literally turn the pilot into chunky salsa? :)

Hehe.. Well, the ship is rather small (much smaller than the Space Shuttle), so the pilot sits at something like only 4 metres from the center of rotation. The pilot will experience a few G's but no fatal injuries. At least that was the idea... :)

I'll change the rotation to be more physically accurate in the upcoming movie clips, though!

It looks exceptional, though the suit looks too, erm... I don't know, it doesn't look right, but then again, might be made of futuristic fibres.

Anyway, I say don't give them the fireball, give them a second longer, but nothing more. Or... start the trailer with the fireball coming down and the crash, and leave it when the ship finally stops. That could be your trailer, but my advice, with trailers, always give the public something, but only something to wet their whistle, otherwise they won't be interested.

That's why some rubbish movies do so good, because they pull in the audience with the best bits of the film. Not saying your short will be rubbish, just try to give just a bit, but not much. :)

Thanks for the encouragement!

I am currently taking a small break from working on Snow Fall (I have another interesting project going on), but I plan to continue working on this soon.

Thanks again for your interest in Snow Fall!
