Hey all.
Last month my cousins were in town and I made this little home movie with them. I'm not a real animator or anything even close (I'm just a guitarist who enjoys playing with CG tools) so this isn't something that's fantastic.
I only had two weeks to do the entire thing so it's a bit rough and one of my 'actors' got into trouble with his grandfather and was grounded for part of the time he was in town. Because of that I had to do some quick work arounds.
Anyway - This isn't something I was doing for quality, but for fun.
I think y'all might recognize the 'bad guys' :storm:

Wow, that YouTube embedding was a real no brainer. I guess I just haven't been the same since the zombies ate mine. LOL!

Hit edit on your post and ye shall see the light!
Dude, whereas I agree the animation skills and such need work, I definitely give this a thumbs up and an A+ for effort!

Thanks.
Like I said, I'm not an animator... In fact, I've called myself a 'hack' around here before. LOL!
This is probably going to be the last time (for all I know) that I'm going to see these cousins and I wanted to send them off with something cool to remember me by. They've not seen it yet. I hope they like it.
90% of the animation stuff was done in Carrara and I was learning on the fly. I've never done live action/CG stuff before.
The lasers and sabers were done with a cool program called FXHome Vision Lab Studio. - Another program I barely know how to use. LOL!
-And thanx for the embedding thing too.
:)
I'm moving back home to Florida next week and I'm going to begin working on a live action/CG fantasy themed (think 'The Last Starfighter meets a good game of D&D) home movie for my nephew (13) and niece (9) - on that one I'm going to do my best and try to make something really cool.
This thing for my cousins was my practice run so to speak.
Did you wait through the credits? :)

The sparkly-shiny star destroyer engines are cool!

I thouht it was pretty good. I got cracked up when I saw the little black dog running behind as one of you dove behind the fence. :D The last shot of the shuttle returning to the StarDestroyer I thought flowed better as far as the flying animation went.
When it landed it started landing properly then looks like it just drops. All in all it was pretty good.

Thanks for the comments and stuff.
I only had two weeks to do the whole project and so I know it's a bit...well, not so good - in some places but it was really about having fun with my cousins and trying out some new software for spfx.
On a side note - Sorry I've not been around much lately.
I just moved back home to Florida (from Indiana) and it was a busy couple of months for me but now that it's done, I'll be back to posting my usual mindless jibberish. :D

I say that this is pretty good for an amateur film. Not the best, but better than most.
Also it is kind of a strange but interesting twist in the end.
Good Job.

Nothing in this 'film' is reflective of my actual work but that's ok. I made it for my cousins and the whole thing was done in about two weeks. The next thing I share will look much better and be far more interesting.
Thanks for taking the time to look at it and comment on it. :)

In 2 weeks? That's fairly good for the limited time.

Thanks for the kind words and all of that.
When I made the little project it was never intended to be something seen by anybody other then my cousins and our families.
I'm floored that I've had a bit over 3,200 hits on it (24 came from this site).
I know there are people on YouTube with a blajillion hits on their stuff but since I didn't expect more than 10-15 people to see this, I'm blown away by the number of folks who've viewed it, rated it and commented on it.
Again, Thanks to everybody for taking the time to check it out.
I'll bet my cousins feel like movie stars!
LOL!
