If and when my site ever gets back online, there are schematics for a number of ST ships there.

Okay, I have to ask, even if it is a stupid question....
What the hell is a cannon design?

It's not a stupid question. Canon designs are those that come directly from a pre-established source. The Enterprise, for example, is a canon design. Non-canon means the design is based on (but not a direct copy) of a particular shows technology. For example Ascension's Dawnstar is an original (non-canon) design based on Star Trek technology.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Richard.

Sure does.
I kept hearing the term and was going nuts trying to figure out what it meant. After your explanation however, it doesn't really matter the origin of the context, at least now I feel like I learned something!
