Looking at some of the shooting models, not all of the ships appear to actually have an "Aztec" pattern. Enterprise A does, but the shooting models of "C" appear to have virtually no pattern on the saucer at all, and only minimal pattern on nacelles.

In opinion, should one just make up a pattern and apply it anyway, even if it does not look like the original?

You know, someone had a good point to make about this at the old forums - in the show (and in films), the motion eliminates the need for extreme detail. On the other hand, still images require such detail to retain high quality.

As long as it doesn't get cluttered, I prefer detail over accuracy. http://www.3dgladiators.com/forums/ubb/ubbhtml/smilies/smile.gif

I would agree with that to a point, but you cannot tell a director or head of an art department that. It won't fly real well and from experience I have learned some of these guys can be really anal to say the least.

I'd say put in the aztecting, but at a VERY LOW opacity.

thanks guys, I appreciate the opinions.

I liked Warriors suggestion though, it makes for a quite reasonable compromise.
