Re: Contest:Thomas P= Sci-Fi Cargo
OK - OK, I'm starting!
Real rough but I have a new idea and an old one sitting on my drive.
Both are just haulers, I don't know if there superluminals or not. Does not really matter but they will definitely carry lots-o-stuff. I have to think a bit on which will get finished.

Re: Contest:Thomas P= Sci-Fi Cargo
I'm torn between which concept I like better. Couldn't you just combine them?

Re: Contest: Thomas P: Sci-Fi Cargo
Well, without committing too much, the first concept is a modular design. I'm envisioning a ship that is produced by marrying 'off shelf' components together. This would be a medium size multi-role cargo ship utilizing a single engine module, and series of cargo spine modules and a forward crew / passenger / transfer module.
The second design was originally done in Wings 3D and then I imported into Max to finish. Been on my drive for about a year and probably stay that way

Re: Contest: Thomas P: Sci-Fi Cargo
Minor update. Obviously going ahead with idea 1 and have started detail work on the engine(s). The other 3 are Max 'instances' so I've hidden them until I finish engine #1.

Re: Contest: Thomas P: Sci-Fi Cargo
Yeah, I like that long look. Are you going to have the smaller area be the crew area and the bigger area be the cargo area?

Re: Contest: Thomas P: Sci-Fi Cargo
You have figured the cargo area yet? Hmmm... good!
The rear half is engineering and the forward end will be crew and passengers. A few days from now it will make sense - or...
Anyway - must sleep now, working on a site at work and we've been chasing bugs all day and I need at least 2-3 hours of shut eye
Some detail...

I knew it wouldn't be too long before you had this looking like more than a collection of primitives.
Great work on the details so far.

Okay, a few updates.
Moving on to another section to keep pace with all these speed demons around here.

Re: Contest: Thomas P: Sci-Fi Cargo
Thanks all.
A few small updates - totally lost myself in something else and built a greeble that has no relation to this design .
Anyway....

No - not on the model itself. I was building out a greeble to use and then went into the model and went - huh? I had no place to put it.

Re: Contest: Thomas P: Sci-Fi Cargo
Yeah, definitely looking sweet. Is the round do-dad-ee-thingy (technical term) of which mcmiller spoke the engine exhaust pipe?

I think so Yes, it's the engine but it is a place holder and subject to change.
UPDATE:
Some minor additions and some major attention to the engineering bridge.
