Consider the ideas filed for future reference. Interestingly, I've got an idea for a new approach to glows that might be useful for engine and warp nacelle type glows. It's part-way through development, and may not prove to be practical or useful yet, but then again, it just might
Unfortunately, if it does work, it will be cropping up in a commercial collection rather than as a freebie (cut-down free version might be possible though).
Unfortunately, a tS shader can't be made to emit light, owing to the way the Lightworks render engine works. Not really a problem though - tS lightsources can be used for the emitted light, and the glow effect itself would still need to be handled by some transparency option even if the object did emit light.
I'll let you know of any developments!
